Exchange Crackdown: SEC fines Ether Delta | What does this mean for Crypto?

Today it was announced that the SEC has fined the founder of the Ether Delta exchange, a decentralized smart contract exchange that runs on top of the Ethereum blockchain. The reason for the fine was because it is an unregistered securities exchange operating in the United States. This begs lots of questions... what happens next? Will other exchanges experience crackdowns? What about exchanges outside of the US that service US customers? Regulators are coming....
